We use Mercury Magnetics transformers and Mojo Cabinets as the foundation of your new amp. From this point you can customize your amp however you like. From which resistors or caps, to which speaker you would like, even the jewel color can be chosen in whatever color you like.
Why do we rely on Mercury Magnetics transformers? Simply put, they are the BEST SOUNDING transformers available. I have tried numerous other transformers in the past and have decided I will only build amps using Mercury Magnetics transformers.
On Mojo Cabinets, I consistantly receive only the highest quality cabinets from Mojo. The tweed reproduction cabinets are made with solid pine wood, finger jointed, and covered with tweed. Additionaly lacquer is sprayed on to give the cabinet a consitant beautiful finish. Some other amp makers will sell you a tweed covered amp, but won't bother to apply a finish to it, thus leaving the surface subject to blemishing and deterioration.

Just who is SDG? I have been a life long Northern Virginia native, growing up in Springfield, VA just outside of Washington DC. As I grew up I always was taking things apart and fixing them or sometimes breaking them too. In high school I took electronics courses along with other shop courses. I built fuzz boxes, robot kits, and speaker cabs in school. I enjoyed the Technology Ed courses so much that I decided to major in Tech Ed in college. I graduated from Virginia Tech in 1994 with my Bachelors degree (teched.vt.edu). For the last 13 years I have been a software programmer and worked for large companies such as AOL, Software AG and xigo.com.
I started SDG Vintage Amplifier about 5 years ago when I decided I enjoyed building amps more than I did working a regular job. Well I haven't been able to quit my day job, building amps isn't exactly a huge money maker, but it is fun though.
